Install and configure openfiler (SAN) storage On VMware

Download OpenFiler from the  link  Click here to download

Lets start the OpenFiler installation:

                        Bring down the VMware in Power off mode before the start of Disk Creation.

                        Click on “Edit virtual machine settings”

                     Click on Add Button

                   Select HDD and press Next

                     Click Finish and Like that we have to create two more disk namely Vote2,vote3

                     Create Data1 Disk for 100GB 

                    Create FRA Disk for 100GB

                     Bring up the VMware in Power on mode after the end of Disk Creation.

                      Click Enter

      Create Partion for /dev/sda  for OS installation because we have to mount other disk as raw partion 

Assign Static IP 

                  Enter the Password

Installation is completed Press "Reboot" button   to reboot

Once the system rebooted it will display the IP address and PORT no open the ipaddress and port no to login in browser for configuration

Default Username : openfiler

Default Password: password 

Go to Services tab and then Click on Enable of “Modify Boot” column for iSCSI Target  and then click on start button on Start/Stop column

Go to  system tab and add  two node ip’s information in network access configuration

Click on Volumes tab and create disk group for installation

Click on “create new physical volumes”

Click dev/sdb on Edit Disk on above screen shot and then create disk group as mention below

Create volume group using above create physical volume 

Replace vote1 for vote in the above screen shot.

Like wise create two more vote2 and vote3 for /dev/sdc and /dev/sdd respectively and then create disk group for Data and FRA.

 Then create volumes in  above created  volume group

Select vote1 volume group and then click on Add Volume

Like wise add volumes for vote2, vote2, Data and FRA Volume group.

Click on iSCSI Targets from  Volumes tab to add  five  iscsi target  as showing in bellow screen

hen go to lun mapping  tab in iscsi target  tab and  map iscsivote1 volumes created above to lun’s. Click map button to map the corresponding lun’s

Click Add button on “Target Configuration” tab to add iSCSI Targets for iscsivote2 volume group.

Click on LUN Mapping tab and then click map button for Name vote2

 Map all the Name vote1, vote2, vote3, Data and FRA to single iSCSI Target.

 Create ACL to access the Storage. Click on Network ACL Tab and then select Allow on Access column and then finally click on update button.
